The unemployment rate in Northeastern BC managed to stay the same as March of 2009.
The current unemployment rate still sits at 6.5% which is the same as March of 2009. One community in the Northeast that saw a big jump was Dawson Creek. Their unemployment rate is currently at 14.1%.
In the latest release from BC Stats the Northeast still has the lowest unemployment rate in the province but not by much as Vancouver sits around 6.7%.
If you compare this April to April of 2008 the unemployment rate has increased by 2.7%. The unemployment rate in April of 2008 for the Northeast was 4.3%.
Currently the Cariboo region has the highest unemployment rate in the province at 12%. The overall unemployment rate in BC is 7.6%
