Unemployment jumps in Northeast

Unemployment numbers in Northeastern BC took a big jump in March.

The Northeast has a 6.5% unemployment rate, a 1.9% jump from February of 2009.  Overall we still have the lowest unemployment rate in the province.

More than 21,000 jobs were shed in British Columbia in March, with the construction sector losing the most.  The Cariboo region saw the largest recorded monthly decrease in employment and now sits at 10%.
