Property sales dip during the '09 first quarter

House sales in Northern BC have dropped significantly in the first quarter of ’09, according to the BC Northern Real Estate board.

Sales have dropped 44 percent over the same period last year.

Fort St. John/Peace River Northern Real Estate Board Director Aaron Braaten says despite the dip, it’s a great time to purchase a house.

He says the market gets worse when there is a level of inactivity of buying and selling.

Braaten encourages potential buyers to use interest rates as an indicator on when to buy a home.
