Fort St. John will be receiving a doubled Gas Tax, three months early this year.

The announcement was made on Wednesday by Price George-Peace River MP Jay Hill, Senator Richard Neufeld and Mayor Bruce Lantz.

That means the City will see just over 745 thousand dollars, compared to about 372 thousand dollars last year.

Mayor Bruce Lantz says he will discuss the money with council members first, before announcing the projects it will be used for.

Meanwhile, Mr. Hill says the money can be used for any local infrastructure projects.

He says there will be numerous jobs created as a result of the announcement.

Hill says the money will be invested three months early to help overcome the ailing economy.

Hill says infrastructure money is used generally to upgrade older buildings or roads, instead of completing newer buildings like the Enerplex.
