Fort St. John woman receives the first email ever from the Queen

A Fort St. John social worker is one of the first people to receive an email from the queen.

24 year old Dacia Douhaibi received the email, after writing about the importance of the Commonwealth in Canada.

She wrote about her job at the Rising Spirit Youth Centre in the city, where she works as a Youth and Family Program Coordinator.

She says she is impressed with the Queen’s determination to keep up with technology.

In a three paragraph email, Queen Elizabeth II wrote, "I have read with interest your accounts of a typical day in your own country which remind me of what we share across the Commonwealth even as our daily lives may be very different."

The email was sent on Buckingham Palace letterhead. Dacia was one of the two Canadians who received the email. The other email was sent to a 13 year old from Quebec.

Dacia is originally from Vancouver, but moved to the city for her job. She says she thinks the Commonwealth spirit is still alive in Canadians.

She says she will probably print out the email and save it, so she can show her grandkids someday.
