The Fort St. John Community Awards have been postponed.
North Peace Leisure Pool Manager Karin Carlson, who is organizing the event, has confirmed the Awards have been delayed, largely because the deadline for nominations passed this week, with less submissions than anticipated.
She says the committee decided to postpone the Awards Gala, originally scheduled for April 23rd, to a date yet to be determined.
Carlson says she also heard from the public that the nomination process was too cumbersome, which is something the committee wants to remedy. [asset|aid=1238|format=mp3player|formatter=asset_bonus|title=4ab8a541f4734c1323f1ab53d3059231-Carlson-1_1_Pub.mp3]
She says the committee might put the nomination form in the local papers, to get the word out to as many people as possible. [asset|aid=1239|format=mp3player|formatter=asset_bonus|title=4ab8a541f4734c1323f1ab53d3059231-Carlson-2_1_Pub.mp3]
The new date for the Gala has been tentatively set for June 3rd, which will give the public another six weeks to submit nominations.
