If you’re looking for a better place to live than Fort St. John, according MoneySense magazine your first choice should be, Victoria…but, you could also make an improvement, by simply moving to Dawson Creek.
The magazine’s annual survey ranked 154 Canadian cities, based on analysis of two dozen different indicators, from weather and crime rates, to home prices, tax rates and, cultural and recreational factors.
The BC capital moved up one spot, in 2009, to the top of the list, changing places with the number one city, in 2008, Ottawa-Gatineau.
Kingston and Burlington, Ontario, are ranked 3rd and 4th, and Vancouver has jumped, from 10th to 5th place. In Alberta, Edmonton moved from 29th to 18th and, stayed ahead of rival Calgary, which went from 35th to 26th.
Locally, Dawson Creek leaped over Fort St. John, with a major jump, from 114th to 24th, while this city fell from 24th to 38th.
