The Royal Canadian Legion is hosting an appreciation night this weekend, to honor local veterans.
Major Dan Davies says people sometimes misinterpret the meaning of ‘veteran’ and he defines it, as any person who is serving or who has honourably served in the Armed Forces of Canada…the Commonwealth or its wartime allies…or, who has served in the Merchant Navy or Ferry Command, during wartime.

The event begins at 5pm Saturday and, Major Davies, who is also city councilor Davies, hopes, if it is a success this year, it will become an annual tradition.
Tickets are priced at 20 dollars for the general public and 15, for legion members and as you would expect, the event is free for all veterans.
For more information you can call the Legion, at 250-785-3917.
