Blizzards hold a Baldonnel Road Race

    The Blizzard Bike Club enjoyed a big crowd on a warm day for the Baldonnel road race. Colter Young held off seventeen other riders to win the 32 km road race in a time of 59:40 minutes. Gary Hilderman won a close sprint over Pat Ferris and 4 others to grab second place. The groupís time was 1:02:58 minutes.
      

Jolea Bilodeau won the 16 km distance with 33:48. Sandy McDonald was second at 34:40, Floyd Polehoykie third at 35:13 and Larry Joice 4th at 50:05.
      

Eighteen riders came out on a warm +5 degree day. The group of Colter Young, Pat Ferris, Les and Jake Elliott pulled away from the pack. Colter dropped Les and Pat at the 20 km mark and dropped Jake Elliott on the hill at the 24 km mark. Colter Young pulled away for the win.
      

Billy Bucknall, Gary Hilderman and Gord Harris caught up to Pat Ferris and Les Elliott and the group started to make up time towards the finish. They caught Jake Elliott with a couple of kmís to go which set up the close 6 rider finish.
      

Ironman New Zealand finisher Billy Bucknall tried a few early attacks to the finish. Pat Ferris led it out with Gary Hilderman catching him at the finish line with Jake Elliott, Gord Harris, Les Elliott and Billy Bucknall all close behind.
      

Bob Andrews was 8th at 1:05:57, Barb Polehoykie 1:05:20, Katherine Fairweather 1:06:08, Roger St. Jean 1:06:38, Wim Kok 1:07:05, Dean Lowry 1:07:41 and Richard Wood 1:09:03.

       -Sunday Rocky Road Race in Taylor at 2 pm at the old zoo road. (This one is the last of the gravel road races for the season)
