Two residents of Dawson Creek, B.C. are dead after a collision Friday in northwestern Alberta.

RCMP say the collision happened around 9:30 p.m. on Highway 43, about two kilometres east of Alberta’s boundary with British Columbia.

Police say a Nissan SUV was westbound when the vehicle crossed the centre line and was broadsided by a pickup.

The driver of the SUV was transported to hospital in Grande Prairie, Alta., but later died and a passenger in the vehicle was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the pickup was taken to hospital in Hythe, Alta., and treated and released.

Police say poor road conditions are believed to have contributed to the collision.
