BC Stats. puts the unemployment rate in Northeast BC, at 4.6 percent, the lowest of any region of the province.
By contrast the Northwest region has BC’s highest rate, at 9.8 percent.
The regional numbers were published during the weekend and follow Friday’s Stats. Canada report on February unemployment, which showed the BC and National rates, both up half a percentage point, to 6.2 and 7.2 percent respectively.
The BC rate was the fourth lowest provincial rate in the country, behind the three prairie provinces but the local area rate, was lower than any of the provincial rates, with Saskatchewan at the bottom of the scale, at 4.7 percent.
