Aeolis Wind Power Corporation is looking at an area 45 kilometers north of Hudson’s Hope as a potential wind generation station.

Director of Projects and Planning Colleen Brown says the company has been monitoring the area for a few years.

Brown provided City Council with an updated proposal on the project. She says if all goes well, the Hackney Hills Project could see turbines over 40 stories tall.

She says one of the major obstacles the company will have to overcome is obtaining an environmental certificate. She says the company is committed to performing extensive research on the environment. Brown says all of the information gathered will go to the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Forests.

Brown says the 370 megawatt project is expected to be completed by 2016.
