Budget meetings continue this afternoon at city hall with the focus moving to the operating budget.
It’s estimated the city has roughly a two million dollar surplus from last year, as a number of departments were able to save over two point four million dollars.
However, water, sewer and transit services were about 400 thousand over budget.
The draft budget for this year shows anticipated revenues of about 48 million dollars, which is about one point three million short of estimated expenditures.
The budget meeting is again open to the public and, set to begin in Council Chambers at three o’clock.
It is the latest in a series of meetings which will continue this month, with the 2009 residential and business tax rates expected to be finalized during the last full week of March.
