The Fort St. John ICE under-18 girls Volleyball team was Calgary over the weekend, for the AVA Premier#2 and came 5th in division 1. The top 16 teams from the first tournament of 44 teams were put into division 1.

The girls won their opening game against the Jaguars from Cochrane, lost a tight 3 set match to Griffins 17 from Edmonton and won 2 sets against the Grande Prairie Wolves 17s.

They then matched up on Sunday morning for the quarter finals against the Griffins 18, playing a flat game by their standards.

The next match was against the GP Wolves 17s again and beat them 2 straight sets.

The win advanced the Ice to play the Griffins 17s, who had beaten them in round robin play. The girls played this match with desire, strong defense, and incredible offense – defeating the Griffins in 2 sets, to claim 5th place overall.

The next tournament for the 18U girls is the AVA Premier #3 on March 6/7, 2009 in Edmonton.
