A local school is using the colour pink to combat bullying in its hallways.
Teachers and students of Dr. Kearney Junior Secondary School are wearing pink shirts in celebration of Anti-Bullying day on Wednesday.
Principal Andrew James says bullying can affect a student’s education.

The pink shirt idea began in Nova Scotia when a Grade nine boy wore a pink polo shirt to school and got teased. Some Grade 12 students got together and wore pink shirts to stand up for the boy.
Dr. Kearney ordered 30 pink shirts for the day. Mr. James says the school distributed the shirts to students in the school.
James says the school does all it can to eliminate bullying on a daily basis.

James says the best remedy for bullying is communication. He recommends talking to your child, and to report any bullying to the child’s school.
