The Fort St. John RCMP are warning women about a pyramid scheme operating in the city.
Women are being asked to pay up to five thousand dollars to join the ‘Women Empowering Women’ group. The participants are encouraged to recruit friends and family, and are told members receive 40,000 once on top of the pyramid.
The group advertises that they bonded together to help women through tough economic times. Members are advised to keep quiet about the involvement in order to avoid problems from non-believers.
The group also claims to have an endorsement letter from the RCMP. The Fort St. John RCMP says they have not endorsed a letter because Pyramid Schemes are illegal.
If you have been contacted by this group contact the Fort St. John RCMP at 250-787-8140 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
