Energy exports bring down overall exports

BC product exports dropped 14.8 percent in December on a seasonally adjusted basis.

BC Stats sasy shipmemts to the U.S. were off 11.7 percent and declined for the second straight month.  Exports to overseas destinations plummeted even more to 17.8 percent.  Energy product exports accounted for much of the overall decline.  They were down 15.1 percent to the U.S. and 22.7percent to other countries.

U.S bound forest product exports were off 18 percent.

Nationwide exports were down 9.7 percent or 35.3 billion dollars despite an 18.3 percent increase in shipment to the European Union.
