This past weekend the Northern Strikers U18 team was in Edmonton for the Power Play Cup. With the lack of pitch experience it hindered the team and they could not pull out a win in the first game. After encouraging words from Coach Tony Almeida, the Strikers made an impressive comeback, playing a strong aggressive game and dominating their next 2 games. The U18 Strikers brought home the silver medal. They are raring to go for the Alberta Soccer Provincials in Edmonton March 21-22. The team would like to thank their sponsors, Fort Motors, Gar-North Enterprise, R & T Enterprise and Challenger Inspections.

Subject: U18B Team – Power Play Cup
I had the pleasure of being the referee for the Fort St. John U18B Team that participated in the Power Play Cup in Edmonton, Alberta this weekend.
I just wanted to pass on how impressed I was with the demeanor of all of the players on the team. They conducted themselves with professionalism and honour, accepting all of my decisions whether it was for the team or not. They also showed sportsmanship in the restart after an injury to a player from the other team. They also played the beautiful game the way it is supposed to be played – passing the ball around on the ground.
The team was a credit to the coach, the club and the City of Ft. St. John. Well done.
Please pass this message on to anyone that you feel it should be passed on to. I would have sent a copy to your Mayor but was unable to locate an e-mail address.
Yours in Football (Soccer)
