According to a BC Ministry of Forests spokesperson, there has been a minimal kill, of the mountain pine beetle this winter despite some brutally cold temperatures.

That noted some of the hardest hit areas of the past, apparently could be spared much of the beetle devastation this year. The voracious little pest, is now targeting more fertile areas in the Okanagan and along and just inside the Alberta border.
