Not surprisingly, given the economic times, the January value of Fort St. John construction was down from last year and way off the first month total for 2007.
Ten permits were issued last month but they were worth just over $500,000.
That compares to six issued in the first month of 2008, worth $752,000 and eleven issued in January of 2007, worth more than $8,700,000.
However, last year’s 12-month construction value total was very close to that of the previous year.
283 permits were issued in 2008 worth $86,744,000 and 319 were issued in 2007 worth $86,853,000.
However, the total value for each of the past two years is less than two thirds of the record $136,446,000 in 2006.
