Huskies lose 4-1 to the Whitecourt Wolverines

The Huskies put in another solid effort on Saturday night, sticking with the top-ranked wolverines for the entire game, and playing fairly tight defence, in a 4-1 loss.

A fairly even first period saw the Wolverines cash in on perhaps their only two opportunities, as Mitch Ternan fired a snap-shot from the high slot over the glove of Zack Blain and into the top corner, and Rodney Lavoie made good on a partial breakaway, getting rid of a snapper into the same corner of the net.

It seemed like another Whitecourt goal 6 minutes into the second would put the pups away, but on their third powerplay of the game, Dylan Apsassin deflected a Linden Apsassin shot to pull Fort St. John back within two.

Finally, Whitecourt put the game away, when Jeff Chalifoux tapped home a great feed from Lavoie, making it 4-1 for the hosts.  From there, the Wolverines worked the clock, with Ryan Demharter shutting the door on the few chances the Huskies did get.
