We now have confirmation July 19th will be the date of this year’s Fort St. John Airshow.

That’s a Sunday and it will be the first time since 2001, that Fort St John has hosted an air show on the weekend. Once again the feature act will be the Canadian Forces Snowbirds and, for the first time in several years the Skyhawks, the nation’s premier parachute demonstration team, will be back.

However, the Fort St. John International Air Show Society has also confirmed, a first time ever local appearance, by Rob Holland, an eight time gold medalist, at the World Advanced Aerobatic Championships. At Monday’s council meeting the Air Show Society did request the support of City Hall. With a unanimous vote council pass a staff report allowing the air show to access just under $60,000.

Mayor Lantz is concerned about just what the city will recieve back from this investment. [asset|aid=798|format=mp3player|formatter=asset_bonus|title=6bee055e01847006f1ae77331f7521be-Bruce L – Airshow funding_1_Pub.mp3]
