Record Temperature set Sunday

Fort St. John set a not so welcome High on Ice record high yesterday, as the maximum temperature hit 8.7.

That was two degrees warmer, than the previous January 18th high, set 65 years ago in 1944. The city is right now in the middle of heat-wave, that also nearly produced a January 17th record and might produce another one today.

The Saturday high was 7.8 degrees, missing by only about one degree the 1965 record of 8.9. 7.8 is also the January 19th record and, 7 is the forecast high for today.

Over the past four days, the average high temperature at the local airport, has been 7.1…more than 30 degrees warmer than the average high of the first four days of the month, which was minus 25.2.
