First gas sales from Coalbed Methane Gas Wells near Hudsons Hope

There’s New Year confirmation of the first gas sales from eight coalbed methane gas wells in the Hudson’s Hope area.

The Peace River Coalbed Methane project is the first commercial project of its kind in BC and covers more than 50 thousand acres.

The 2009 development program is expected to commence this summer following the spring break up and there are reportedly 315 potential well locations.

Four coreholes and twelve production wells have already been drilled, with the average coal thickness at 52 feet and, the average gas content, at 400 cubic feet per ton.

Canada Energy and the operator, Houston-based GeoMet, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Hudson’s Hope Gas Limited, are equal partners in the project.
