Support Fort St John News

At last word, a rescue was continuing today on the slopes of Mount Renshaw on the B-C/Alberta border just west of Jasper, as volunteers try to reach two horses trapped in heavy snow. The volunteers are digging a kilometre long trench through two-metre snow drifts so the horses can be coaxed to safety. The rescue has been underway since two snowmobilers, spotted the starving, frostbitten animals — believed to have been abandoned. by an Edmonton hunter, in the fall. S-P-C-A investigators believe they have identified the owner and a file has been opened.
