Yesterday was officially the first day of winter and it resulted in a record low temperature in Fort St. John.
Officially we got to minus 37 point five degrees breaking the old December 21st record set in 1989 by 4 degrees.
It was the third straight day with an overnight low, below minus 30 degrees and, if the forecast is accurate the next three days will be the same.
In fact, Environment Canada’s John McIntyre says, there’s no reason to assume we’ll get back to seasonal norms this year…

The seasonal norms for this time of year show highs near minus eight and lows near minus 19.
However current long range forecast modules don’t show temperatures near those readings before the January 5th.
