Flyers win 6-3 over the Spirit River Rangers
The first period was scoreless, but also very fast with few whistles.
In the second period both teams got on the scoreboard, but it would be the Flyers that would take control. They jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Mike Lefley potted a shorthanded goal, then scored two more to bring the total to 4-1. Both teams got into penalty trouble late in the period, with some stick and clumsy hit infractions sending a bunch of players to the box.
The third period was not as phyisical as might have been expected, but the Rangers would get their opportunity to get back in the game. With 3 Flyers in the box late, Spirit River would get a full two minutes of 2 man advantage and then some. Though they would score once, a tripping penalty to Willchinski would negate the rest, and the Flyers would survive, though they admit to not playing their best game of the season. Final score – 6-3.
