Support Fort St John News

Fort St. John City Council could get a raise Monday night.

Council will hold it’s first full meeting Monday night and one of the first reports from City Administration is a possible raise for Mayor and Council.

In 2008 the Mayor collected $59,743 and each Councilor collected $20,828. If the proposed increase passes the Mayor would increase to $63,456 and Councilors to $21,966. That would be a 6.2% increase for the Mayor and a 5.5% increase for Councilors.

Every year for the last 5 years Mayor and Council have received raises. If the raise is approved it would go into effect in January of 2009.
