Drought Update

Environment Canada’s November weather numbers for the Fort St. John area are now complete and, they confirm the local area ended its string of six months of below average precipitation.

The November total was 47 millimeters, compared to the local area norm of 28 point five.

It was also the 4th month this year, that total precipitation exceeded the local average…with the others being February, March and April.

However, the 11th month year-to-date total is 330 point nine millimeters…about 120 below the norm of 450 point three.

Three months…June, July and September… account for all the difference and more.

On average they result in about 200 millimeters but, this year we received only 66.
