Midget AA Flyers finish second in home tourney

The Fort St. John Petrolium Association Midget AA Flyers hosted a 4-team tourney at the rec centre over the weekend, and the team opened with a back and forth game against Dawson Creek on Friday night.

When the dust settled, it was 7-6 FSJ, Tyson Negus leading the way with two goals, and then suffering a back injury from which he would not return.

In game two, the Flyers came out a little flat, losing 8-2 to Grande Prairie.

The final round robin game was against Chetwynd, another slow start for Fort St. John, they trailed Chetwynd 5-1 after one. But back they came, scoring three in the second, two more in the third, actually taking a lead before Chetwynd tied it up late, and the game ended in a 6-6 tie, but that was enough to get the Flyers through to the final.

But, in the big game, the Flyers were pretty tired, they were missing a bunch of guys, and got into some penalty trouble, 8-1 the final, Grande Prairie wins it.

The next games for the Midget AA Flyers is a tourney at Prince George next weekend.
