Construction values still up from 2007 numbers

With just two months to go this year, the value of construction in Fort St. John continues to run slightly ahead of 2007.

The number of permits issued is down to 268 from 290; however, 2008 construction value is nearly $80.5 million, as compared to just less than $77 million for the first ten months of last year.

Twenty-seven permits were issued last month for a total of just under $17 million. They resulted in just over $51 thousand in City Hall revenue.

It pushed that year-to-date total, to nearly $165 thousand, which is also slightly ahead of last year’s $161 thousand.

However, the 2008 numbers pale when compared to those of 2006.

The 10 month construction value total that year was over $103 million. City revenue was more than $242 thousand.
