On November 1st, 2008, at 5:25 am, RCMP received a call of a Greyhound bus that had rolled over near Prophet River, south of Fort Nelson. RCMP and BC Ambulance responded immediately, however this collision site was over 100 km away and road conditions were not good.

Once on scene, RCMP and BC Ambulance found 22 persons including 2 critically injured and 1 trapped.

Arrangements are being made to have another bus attend the collision site to transport the remaining passengers back to Fort Nelson. A Red Cross facility has been arranged when those passengers return.

Highway 97, also known as the Alaska Highway remains closed due to this collision and severe road conditions.
