GP doctor faces yet another sex-related charge

A Grande Prairie doctor already accused of sex crimes against four patients has been arrested on charges of sexual assault against yet another patient.

In June, Dr. Palaniswami Easwara Murthi was charged with five counts of sexual assault, one count of sexual exploitation, one count of sexual interference and two charges of assault.

All of the alleged assaults occurred at his two practices in the Grande Prairie area between 2001 and 2007. The complainants include a male and a female who were underaged at the time of the alleged assault.

Murthi’s preliminary hearing for the nine initial charges will be held April 28th.

Murthi is currently out on bail.
