Farmers in the Peace area will get a chance to have their say in how farm properties are assessed at a meeting tomorrow in Dawson Creek.
The Farm Assessment Review panel which has been touring across BC for the last month will be making a stop in the city tomorrow night at 6:30pm in the Kin Arena. The meeting will allow the province to consult with local farmers on how they can streamline and improve the farm assessment process.
John Rustad, chair of the Review panel says he’s happy with the results of consultation meetings so far.
The consultations are the result of a Ministry of Small Business and Revenue decision late last year to conduct a comprehensive review of BC’s farm assessment policies. The review hopes to address concerns about the policies that were raised by farmers and their communities.
Panel members include Karen Goodings, chair of the Peace River Regional District. More information is available at www.farmassessmentreview.ca.
