The Fort St. John Senior Flyers open their regular season on Thursday night, at home, against the Grande Prairie Athletics.

The game starts at 8:30 at the North Peace Arena, and it marks the beginning of the Flyers latest quest to reach the Allan Cup.

The Flyers will play in the NPHL playoffs this year, which means regular season games will mean a little more than they did last year.

The Athletics placed third of three teams in the NPHL west division last year, though the division was by far the strongest. The Flyers and athletics faced each other six times (with Fort St. John winning all six). This year, there are only two (not three) divisions in the league, and teams in the same division (such as Fort St. John and GP) will play each other four times.

Grande Prairie has already played once this season, a 5-4 overtime loss to Spirit River at home on Saturday the 25th.

The Flyers play their first road game this coming Saturday at Lakeland. The first Flyers radio broadcast of the season will be next Thursday (Nov. 6) when the Flyers visit Grande Prairie.

Moose FM will also be broadcasting the Flyers’ exhibition series in Stony Plain on the 8th and 9th of November. That will be the Flyers’ first chance to play a AAA opponent this year. The Eagles will return to Dawson Creek to play the Flyers in January.

As always, Moose FM and energeticcity-beta.mystagingwebsite.com will be your home for Flyers broadcasts, news, and talk, all season long.
