Native grievances dating back forty years, over the W-A-C Bennett Dam, have finally been settled.
Members of the Kwadacha First Nation near Hudson’s Hope have voted to accept a settlement, with the province and B-C Hydro.
The agreement addresses damages caused by the building of the dam and Williston Reservoir, back in 1968.
The deal provides a one time payment of about 15 million dollars to the first nation, future annual payments and, business and employment opportunities for members of the band.
