Diesel Shortage Thefts

You can add theft to problems now associated with the diesel fuel shortage in western Canada.

A CBC report says theft has become such a major problem, that a construction company in Grande Prairie is no longer fuelling trucks or machinery, unless they’re going to be used immediately.

A Roy Larson Construction spokesperson is quoted as saying his company has lost over 20 thousand dollars worth of fuel.

As reported earlier, the shortage is having a domino effect, impacting not only filling stations but also the trucking industry, the oil patch and, construction projects.

The shortage was partially the result of temporary maintenance and upgrading shutdowns at Petro Canada and Imperial Oil refineries in Edmonton and Suncor Energy’s upgrader in Fort McMurray.
