When B.C. Hydro launched what will be a lengthy public consultation about Site C – a Peace River dam first considered more than 25 years ago – it expected to field questions about why the dam was needed and how it compares with other options for an energy-hungry province.
Those questions came, but so did others that were perhaps less expected, such as whether the public would have access to the bridge associated with the project, and what would be done with trees on land that would be flooded if the dam goes ahead.
