Crews at Grande Prairie Airport had their work cut out for them today after thousands of litres of aviation fuel were accidentally spilled across the runway just after 6am this morning.

The spill was the result of an unknown malfunction in a refuelling truck. Crews estimate over 16,00 litres of the fuel was spilled onto a taxiway.

Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the spill, and no flights were delayed. Crews mopped up the fuel with sand.
