Incumbent mayor Jim Eglinski is no longer running uncontested.

Late in the day October 9th, it was announced that local journalist Bruce Lantz has filed his papers for the mayoral race.

Lantz, who is originally from Nova Scotia, studied Criminology and Chinese political science at university before moving to the area in 1995.

He has worked as publisher of Fort St. John and Dawson Creek papers, and now publishes the weekly paper Northeast News.

When reached for comment, Lantz said, "I believe people want and need a choice for mayor in this election, and I’m hoping to provide that."
