The Huskies earned a 5-3 victory over Beaverlodge on Friday night.
Beaverlodge claimed the first goal scoring opportunity of the game, on a penalty shot. But, Goaltender Zach Blain watched Charles Laboucan shuffle the puck just wide, and the first period ended with no scoring.
During the second period things heated up, and stayed that way till the closing buzzer. The huskies opened the scoring early in the second, and after a back and forth period, the score was 3-2 Blades.
In the third, the Huskies big players broke the game open. Jonathan Spence tied the game up with a quick shot from the slot, and then a clever goal from Steven Fast put the pups in front. Paydon Wongtedt iced the game, with a late powerplay goal, his second of the game.

Steven Fast scored the winning goal, his first of the season. Fast says the difference in tonight’s third period, compared to the past two games, was simply a better mental game.

Paydon Wongstedt had a big night, but agrees the difference tonight was smarter hockey.

Fast played for the Huskies as a call-up in last season’s playoffs, but says he’s put on a few pounds, and is loving Junior Hockey.

The Huskies were 3-6 on the powerplay, and got goals from Paydon Wongstedt (2), Jason Arnouse, Jonathon Spence, and Steven Fast. Dylan Apsassin chipped in with 2 nice assists.
Next up is a Saturday night (Oct. 4th) game, at home, against the Grande Prairie Wheelers. Game time is 8pm at the NPA.
