Officers located the vehicle about an hour later. Two marked police vehicles attempted to stop the driver, who then rammed one of the police vehicles. Two officers in that vehicle then got out.

However, the driver then drove directly at one of the officers. Officers fired at the vehicle to stop the driver from running over the officer. The driver of the stolen vehicle then drove away. Several minutes later, the driver drove the stolen vehicle head-on into a police SUV, disabling both vehicles. Police immediately began first-aid treatment on the driver, who was treated in hospital, then released into police custody.

The Fort St. John RCMP’s Use of Force in this matter is currently being investigated by E Division Major Crime Unit in Prince George. Police have confirmed the suspect is known to the RCMP.

Charges have now been laid following this incident. Click Here for more details on the charges.
