The Chetwynd RCMP has issued another communication’s reminder, for local area hunters.
It follows an incident last week in the South Peace involving a hunter, who broke his leg and needed to be airlifted to safety.
Police say he was located by Mackenzie Search and Rescue but, only after he and a companion spent a cool, rainy night outdoors.
The pair had set up the camp after hiking for nearly two hours through the bush, from where they left an ATV.
Police say hunters should always leave behind someone, with the knowledge and a mapped location, of their destination.
They’re also advised to take with them communication and GPS devices.
