Local students hoping for a career in the booming Geomatics field here in Northeast BC will now get the opportunity to receive part of their training here in Fort St. John.
Northern Lights College has announced a partnership with BCIT to deliver the first year of a two-year Geomatics Engineering Technology Diploma at the Fort St. John campus.
The program will use the campus’ new Jim Kassen Industry Training Centre for classes. Students could then choose to begin work in the field, or take their second year at BCIT’s campus in the lower mainland, choosing to specialize in either Land Surveying or Digital Mapping.
The college hopes the local program will ease the current deficit of geomatics professionals in this region.
