Fort St. John businesses and residents will now have to get by without direct air mail.
Air Canada says that Canada Post has terminated a longstanding contract with the carrier for the delivery of air mail, but Canada Post says Air Canada terminated the contract.
The $35 million dollar contract provided air mail delivery to several communities across the country, including Fort St. John.
Air Canada asked for an additional $15 million for its services this year. Air Canada says the cost increase is the result of surging fuel and transportation prices.
Canada Post spokesperson Lillian Au says they have made alternative arrangements for Fort St. John mail.

Mail will now be sent by air from Vancouver to Prince George and then sent by Truck the rest of the way.
