Cinephiles in Fort St. John will be busy this week as the inaugural Women’s Film Festival hits the big screen at the Lido Theatre.
Starting Wednesday, the festival will showcase six films over three days.
The festival is the work of the Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society. The group hopes to showcase different women’s issues through film, and will be holding discussions after each film on the issues it raises.
The films broach a wide range of topics, from cultural challenges to suffragism.
Tanya Clary with the Women’s Resource Society says the festival is a new idea for the organization, and she’s hoping that the films will incite thought and discussion on the issues presented.
The festival begins Wednesday at 7pm, and is by donation. For more information, visit the events section of the Energeticcity.ca website.
