Recycling pilot project comes to Fort St. John

Recycling is about to become much easier for some Fort St. John residents.

Effective October 1st, Eco-Depot, a local recycling centre, will begin a pilot project offering curbside recycling to residents from 108th Avenue north.

People living on those streets will be able to opt in to the bi-weekly collection for a three month period.

After the trial run completes, Eco Depot will present the results of the program to the city to determine whether the system would be feasible city-wide.

Participants in the program will pay $15 a month for the service, but Eco Depot General Manager Lindsay Heal believes that citywide implementation would drive that cost down.

Heal says that only a dozen people have signed up for the service so far, but she hopes that more will register. For more information, you can contact Eco-Depot at 250-785-0300.
