Enerplex Padding Deadline-Sept.19/08*

Tomorow is the deadline for the company responsible for the design and construction of the Fort St. John Enerplex to present a viable solution to the issue of safety padding around the structure’s speedskating oval.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that the original design of the structure failed to provide sufficient room for regulation padding.

In an update earlier this month to council, Facilities and Protective Services Director Jim Rogers said, reports completed to that time by Architectural firm Field, Field & Field were unsatisfactory.

If the firm fails to provide an adequate report on the matter, the city has stated it will exercise its contractual options, presumably meaning it will take over the padding aspect of the project at the firm’s expense.
