BC Hydro has announced it will begin the second stage of its Site C consultations this October.

This upcoming round of the Project Definition Consultation will run until the end of November. Stage 2 will see the utility conduct studies on potential impacts to property owners. Other topics such as construction, public use of the construction bridge and wildlife will be discussed.

Dave Conway, Manager of Community Relations, says that the company will offer interested residents many different methods of input to ensure everyone can contribute to the conversation. [asset|aid=247|format=mp3player|formatter=asset_bonus|title=Dave Conway_1_Pub.mp3]

BC Hydro says that information obtained in the first stage of the consultation, which took place earlier this year, suggests that the utility should continue to investigate the site as a potential option in adressing the province’s energy deficit. The company expects electricity consumption in B.C. to increase by as much as 45 percent over the next two decades – creating a significant gap between supply and demand.
