Fort St. John Bus Routes up for Redesign

Fort St. John bus routes may soon be up for another redesign. Victor Shopland, director of Infrastructure and Capital Works with the city, says residents should expect another ridership survey this fall. The new routes are planned to be implemented in early 2009. This redesign is the second in as many years for the bus system. The first redesign in 2006 saw the bus exchange moved from the Cultural Centre on 100th St. to the Northern Lights College Campus after ridership surveys indicated that the new location would facilitate a perceived need in the communit. However, ridership never matched projected numbers. Shopland says that BC Transit and the city are working together to ensure that the new route changes are more beneficial to riders.
